From the beginning of last year, I started painting a series of friends and others that compose my daily life. All of them, each for different reason, people that interest me and I care about. I felt the need to observe them with fresh eyes, so I brought them to the studio. They had to be present throughout the time I was painting them. This context drew us even closer. I learned more about them and was able to have a deeper understanding of how I relate to them. Knowing them intimately, enables me to go further than a mere likeness, towards a deep­ ened sence of how this human being looks and feels. Considering how little time people have for themselves today, I am grateful to my friends, for their commitment and engagement in this demanding and personal process.
